WELCOME TO THE BISTRO

We pledge to serve the best of the Island, including local, sustainable harvest from our land and waters.

What we don’t grow and ethically raise on our own farm in North Saanich, we proudly source from other, like minded farmers + food purveyors

We compost everything we can from the restaurant to enrich our soil.  Last year we composted 48 tonnes in fact!

THE BISTRO

Our locally inspired menu guarantees you that the freshest, often most innovative ingredients available, are used to prepare your meal.

Check fresh sheet for this week's offering which may include some of these items: 

From our farm:  swiss chard, purple potatoes, carrots, tomatillos, tomatoes, onions kale, baby beets, variety of herbs and dahlias

From other local farmers + fishermen:  halibut, trout, salmon, pork

We are happy to accept reservations up to parties of six up until 6:45 pm. For larger groups, please phone us at 250.220.8008 to book your table. 

After 6:45 pm we operate on a first come, first serve basis. The restaurant uses a "Wait list" which doesn't require you to stand in line for a table once you have checked in. Our hostess will notify you when your table is ready by text message when your table becomes available.

FROM OUR FARM

Whatever the weather, we can be found growing organic vegetables, fruits and herbs 10 months of the year. Staying true to Farm to Table principles and practice, the farm supplies 10 ACRES BISTRO + KITCHEN + COMMONS with fresh eggs and farm meat. Our livestock are raised in grass pastures, enjoying non-GMO feed. Our recently planted orchard was a feast of pollen for the busy little bees which arrived in time to help pollinate all 43 varieties of our 17 different fruit trees last spring.

What's fresh from the farm: 
new baby potatoes - baby beets - fennel - eggs - garlic - chives - chard - oyster mushrooms - arugula - baby carrots - winter squash - celeriac - parsnips - brussels sprouts - turnips - carrots - sunchoke

Ocean Wise is a Vancouver Aquarium conservation program created to educate and empower consumers about the issues surrounding sustainable seafood, ultimately promoting ocean-friendly buying decisions.

MARINE STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL

The Marine Stewardship Council is a global organization promoting the best environmental choice in seafood via certification of sustainable practices.

IN SEASON

Seafood is best in season when stocks are more abundant and freshly caught/harvested.
